“It Can Be You is a book which was written so that the world becomes more compassionate + understands the reasons behind homelessness, rather than judge. The way the book portrays that message, is via the stories of 45 fashion influencers from all over the world who share a story of the most challenging & difficult time in their lives, and how they’ve overcome those obstacles to be where they are today in their lives. Jordana Guimaraes – author – then created a street team and over $10K on GoFundMe, to go around Manhattan and give a meal to hundreds of homeless individuals, and get their stories of how they wound up on the streets. The book is a transparent look into how the stories of the fashion influencers + homeless individuals when placed side by side, have so many commonalities in the struggle and where the circumstances one has that the other doesn’t, separated the two individuals – hence the title “It Can Be You”. There are also excerpts throughout the book of inspirational stories + monologues so that life can be appreciated for what it is.”
